Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Roast AI accesses, what is processed locally or through our backend, and how app services such as AI generation, analytics, crash reporting, Remote Config, and purchases work.

1. Overview

Roast AI helps you generate short, playful comeback and roast-style replies from text, optional context, screenshots, and photos you choose to submit. You can use the app without creating an account. The app is designed to request only the information needed for the feature you choose.

Please do not submit highly sensitive personal information, private documents, payment details, government identifiers, health information, passwords, or content that you do not have permission to use.

2. Information Roast AI May Use

Depending on how you use the app, Roast AI may access or process the following categories of information:

  • Text prompts and optional context: text you type into the app, such as a comeback request or description of a chat situation.
  • Screenshots and photos: images you select from your device or provide through iOS photo picking features so the app can generate a relevant roast response.
  • Generated outputs: AI-generated roast replies, captions, or comeback options shown inside the app.
  • Usage events: high-level app events such as onboarding progress, generation started, generation completed, paywall viewed, purchase started, restore attempted, and copy actions.
  • Diagnostics: crash logs, non-fatal error information, device and OS details, app version, and performance diagnostics used to improve stability.
  • Purchase and entitlement status: subscription offering, product, purchase, restore, and entitlement information needed to unlock premium access.
  • Remote configuration values: configuration values used to control app behavior, such as paywall settings, free generation limits, and minimum supported app version.

3. Photos, Screenshots, and Permissions

Roast AI only receives images that you choose to provide through the app. If you select a screenshot or photo, the app uses that image to prepare the generation request and display your selected preview. If you deny photo access, image-based generation may not work, but text-based features can still be available where supported.

The app does not need your entire photo library to function. When iOS offers limited photo access or a photo picker, you can choose only the items you want to use.

4. AI Processing

When you ask Roast AI to generate replies, the content needed for that request may be sent to our backend service and AI provider so the requested output can be produced. The current backend is a Cloudflare Worker that forwards generation requests to OpenAI. The iOS app is designed to call the backend, not OpenAI directly.

AI outputs are generated automatically. They may be inaccurate, inappropriate, incomplete, or unsuitable for a specific conversation. You are responsible for reviewing and editing any output before copying, sending, or sharing it.

We may apply safety checks, prompt rules, rate limits, and abuse-prevention logic to reduce harmful or policy-violating outputs.

5. How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • To generate roast replies, comeback options, and related AI output you request.
  • To provide free and premium feature access.
  • To load product offerings, complete purchases, restore purchases, and verify subscription entitlement status.
  • To operate Remote Config values such as hard paywall behavior, free generation limits, and app compatibility controls.
  • To understand aggregate app usage and improve user experience.
  • To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, improve reliability, and prevent repeated failures.
  • To protect the app, backend, and users from abuse, excessive traffic, or unsafe requests.
  • To comply with legal, tax, platform, security, and App Store requirements.

6. Third-Party Services

Roast AI uses third-party services to provide core functionality, analytics, diagnostics, configuration, purchases, and AI generation:

  • Apple: handles App Store distribution, in-app purchases, subscription billing, refunds, subscription management, and device permission prompts.
  • RevenueCat: loads live offerings, reads Apple product information, processes purchase and restore flows, and reflects subscription entitlement status inside the app.
  • Firebase Analytics: collects app usage events to help understand onboarding, generation, purchase, and feature usage patterns.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: collects crash reports and non-fatal diagnostics to help identify and fix stability issues.
  • Firebase Remote Config: provides app configuration values that can be updated without releasing a new app version.
  • Firebase Hosting: hosts this Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, support page, and related public app information.
  • Cloudflare Workers: hosts the Roast AI backend endpoint used for generation requests.
  • OpenAI: processes AI generation requests and returns generated text responses.

These providers may process data according to their own terms and privacy practices. We use them only for the app purposes described in this policy.

7. Purchases and Billing

All digital purchases and subscriptions in Roast AI are handled through Apple's in-app purchase system. We do not receive your full payment card number or full Apple ID payment details. Apple may provide transaction and subscription status information needed to unlock or restore access.

RevenueCat helps validate subscription entitlement status and present the correct product offering inside the app. Subscription management, cancellation, refund requests, and billing history are handled through your Apple account and App Store subscription settings.

8. Local Storage and Retention

Some app state may be stored locally on your device, including onboarding status, free generation usage counters, selected settings, recent generated results, and local app data needed for continuity. You can remove local app data by deleting the app from your device.

Generation requests are processed to return the output you asked for. Backend logs may retain limited operational data for debugging, reliability, abuse prevention, and security. We aim to keep submitted content only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law, platform requirements, billing records, security, or dispute handling.

Crash and analytics data may be retained by Firebase according to Firebase product settings and retention controls. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat as needed for billing, entitlement verification, tax, fraud prevention, and subscription history.

9. Your Choices and Controls

  • You can choose whether to provide text, screenshots, or photos for generation.
  • You can deny or limit photo access through iOS permission settings.
  • You can avoid submitting sensitive personal information or content that should not be processed by AI.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account subscription settings.
  • You can restore eligible purchases inside the app.
  • You can delete the app to remove local app data stored on your device.
  • You can contact support using the support page linked below for privacy questions or deletion-related requests.

10. Children's Privacy

Roast AI is a general audience entertainment and productivity app for playful reply generation. It is not directed to children and should not be used to submit personal information about children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us through the support page.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect app data, backend requests, and service access. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should avoid submitting information that would create risk if it became visible to someone else.

12. International Processing

Roast AI and its service providers may process information in countries or regions different from where you live. Data protection laws may differ by location. By using the app, you understand that information may be processed where our providers operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, backend, third-party services, App Store requirements, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
